I Did It- Stacy B- Attorney at Law, Esq, JD

In the words of a famous almost 3 year old..."Stacy, You Did It!" (that would be from my wonderful nephew Cade).

On Thursday April 16, 2009 @ 10am I officially became an attorney. I took my oath in the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, signed the Roll of Attorneys, & received my bar card. It was the best feeling in the world. For those who have been to law school or supported someone through law school, you will know that it is a good feeling just to be done with school. You also know the relief that comes when you pass the bar. However, there is no feeling greater than standing up with your right hand raised and taking your oath. At that moment everything you worked for, all those nights of no sleep, all the pressure you felt, and all the stress on your family is finally over. I think Tony was almost as happy as I was on that day.
Tony, my parents, and my brother Josh were all present for the big event. When it was over all the brand new lawyers were in the Rotunda of the State Capital calling each other counselor. However, for me I don't think it sunk in until Friday when I was at work. I had a felony docket on Friday that I did all by myself and I had to put on a Preliminary Hearing all by myself. At the hearing, the judge, said "representing the State, Assistant District Attorney Stacy Brklacich." At that very moment it hit me like a tons of bricks. This was real, my work paid off. I am now getting ready for next week, where I will be doing a Jury Trial on a Robbery with a Firearm. After the trial, I am needed in the Juvenile Division of the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office and will be moving over to that division.

This is me signing the Historical Oklahoma Roll of Attorneys!

  3. Way to go, Stacy! That's very cool. I remember when I started signing stuff with my bar number on it. My moment of realization came when one of the secretaries came into my office and said, "We need an attorney to sign this and you're the only one here." It's the big time now. Good luck! - Nate
