My Big Brother

On Saturday May 16, my big brother, graduated from Midwestern Theological Seminary in Kansas City. It was a proud moment for our entire family. I, however, was overcome with silent emotion. I sat in my seat and couldn't wait for the graduates to enter. When the music began I was so happy to see my brother come marching in. This was a 6 year journey for him.

When I was growing up, I like most, didn't appreciate my childhood nor understood how much of an impact a sibling could have on your life. I always thought Josh hung the moon, but I never really knew how much to appreciate him. When we were little, he always held my hand, wanted to make sure I was okay, taught me to play basketball, always included me (even when he was told not to), walked me in homecoming, cheered me on when I got my ACT scores, and was always supportive. However, the one thing I missed seeing was how God impacted our lives. We grew up in church so to me it was no big deal.

Now, it means so much to me to be able to see my big brother as not only a sibling but a brother in Christ. I see how much God has done in his life, how God has shaped him into the man he is, how great a husband he is, and how great a father he is. I know he had some struggles in his life and thank God for Celebrate Recovery. My brother is who he is because of the Lord Jesus Christ and I am so thankful that I get to be a part of it. I am so proud of him. I am truly blessed to have him in my life.
